I have not seen many movies which I didn't think would be good. I guess with ageing, I just don't have the energy to chase down every movie that comes out anymore. So I will limit to just 5 worst movies of the year, but also the Top 5 most disappointing as I initially had high expectations for them.
Top 5 Worst Movies:
5. Pokemon: Detective Pikachu (4/10)
Reynolds was a big miscast. And the story made zero sense.
4. Pet Sematary (4/10)
How do you drag a corpse up such a high hill?? Again, story made zero sense.
3. Mary Queen Of Scots (3.5/10)
How slow can a movie crawl? This has probably set a new record and just put me to sleep.
2. Rocketman (3.5/10)
It's like Elton John wrote a love letter to himself and it was just too self-indulgent to be watched by someone else.
1. Mary (3/10)
What a waste of time and money because this movie had nothing to offer in terms of story, horror or thrills.
Top 5 Most Disappointing:
5. Cats (5.5/10)
How does a Tom Hooper movie fail this badly? By rushing the movie out to meet the award season. And they had to eventually pull out because of how bad the CGI were.
4. Captain Marvel (5.5/10)
This was the worst MCU movie ever because of certain logic issues in some of the plot points. And such a shame.
3. Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker (5.5/10)
The creators of this movie really dropped the ball. Instead of moving forward, J.J. Abrams kept backtracking and going back to what worked before.
2. The Lion King (5.5/10)
While looking gorgeous, the animals had no expressions and I would rather watch the animated movie again than ever come back to this.
1. Us (5/10)
There were just too many "why" halfway through the movie and by the end of it there were no answers at all. And that bugged the hell out of me.
