[Review] 6 Underground (5/10)
Title - 6 Underground
Studio - Netflix
Starring - Ryan Reynolds, Dave Franco, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona, Corey Hawkins, Ben Hardy, Melanie Laurent
Writer - Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick
Director - Michael Bay
Release - 13 December 2019
A movie written by the Deadpool duo Reese and Wernick, and then directed by the master of explosion himself, Michael Bay. Not to mention led by Reynolds, how did this become a rival of the rubbish Transformers sequels?
I'm thinking it's probably a throwaway script and Bay had nothing better to do, and Netflix wanted to bring in Reynolds into their streaming service in original content; so this mindless action flick was what we got.
The plot became very confusing very quickly and expositions were thrown around like grenades. The jumping in timelines also threw me off but I also realized I didn't care by that point.
The cast was actually not bad as they were the ones that kept me watching. Not Reynolds though, unfortunately, because he looked like a massive miscast in this character. Reynolds a tech genius? That was really hard to sell.
But seeing as we could watch this in the comfort of our own home without having to pay for cinema ticket, I think this softened the blow a little as an original, "explosive" content.
