This is nowhere anything original but once in a while we need a small-budget, killer-creature movie that is akin to Sunshine and Pandorum.
Whereas the above mentioned movies took place in space, this one was no different because it took place in a location where humans require extra equipment to survive - which is deep underwater.
There is a lot of talent in the cast, with Stewart and Cassel leading; though not much strenuous acting was required. I wasn't too big of a fan on T.J. Miller's character as he didn't bring anything different to his performance. And Jessica Henwick's character was very typical, well actually all characters were very generic for its genre.
But that claustrophobic feeling was very real. And the closeups of the people in the movie in their underwater helmets helped emphasized on that feeling.
However, the sheer size of the creature living in that location was unrealistic to have been hidden for that long. I thought the monster did not have to rival Godzilla, even just half the size would have been enough. Also the way the smaller creatures consume things seemed very impractical.
And, of course, the science behind all the expositions did not sound like it is all there.
