[Review] Just Mercy (6/10)

Title - Just Mercy
Studio - Warner Bros. Pictures
Starring - Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, Brie Larson,
Writer - Andrew Lanham, Destin Daniel Cretton, Tim Blake Nelson
Director - Destin Daniel Cretton
Release - 10 January 2020

I didn't like this movie's pacing, that's my first and foremost gripe. The movie was just, too, slow. And it could have just been at least 10 minutes shorter.

The second thing was Michael B. Jordan's casting. This is the first time I see Jordan being uncomfortable and not looking the part. And it's the first time I see flaw. It looked like he doesn't play a believable lawyer.

But on the positive, Jamie Foxx gave one brilliant performance. He did not have enough scenes here, but when he was on, he was on. Especially those final scenes and you see the humanity in his performance, and that was just the most rewarding part of sitting through the slower sequences.

This perhaps is Destin Daniel Cretton's style, as I remember Short Term 12 was also a slow burn but I found that movie more engaging, while this one felt less important when it should have been just as.
