[Review] The Lighthouse (6/10)
Title - The Lighthouse
Studio - RT Features, A24
Starring - Robert Pattinson, Willem Dafoe
Writer - Robert Eggers, Max Eggers
Director - Robert Eggers
Release - 18 October 2019
This was very disappointing because I was expecting something at least would surprise me, other than being scary or terrifying either psychologically or even spiritually.
None of that happened. All the above were just skimmed, touched-and-went.
Still, the picture was beautiful, beautifully shot with great cinematography. It had to be shot in black and white, there was no other way. And the audience could feel that very room the two men had to be in and always be in each other's way. And that's credit to Eggers and how he shot it.
And then there was Willem Dafoe's acting which elevated the movie. Pattinson was still a few steps behind in that regard.
But at the end of the day, I wasn't sure what the movie wanted to tell us.
