[Review] Extraction (4/10)

Title - Extraction
Studio - Netflix
Starring - Chris Hemsworth, David Harbour, Derek Luke, Fay Masterson, Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Golshifteh Farahani
Writer - Joe Russo
Director - Sam Hargrave
Release - 24 April 2020

This was a bad storytelling. Even the action sequences, which this movie was really hyped up for, were honestly not that great.

Granted, the way some of these action sequences were shot - and I'm only talking about the actual "extraction" set piece sequence - they were mind-boggling. But, the contents themselves, though, were nothing spectacular.

And every time the action died down, and Sam Hargrave tried to put in some of the softer parts of the Joe Russo's script; the pacing grounded to a halt. It was tough to sit through.

David Harbour's character was another cliched plot point that echoed to 90's best that felt old now, but it was only then that the movie felt like it just started. By then, it was already too late.

The antagonist and the people that Hemsworth's character worked for were all very confusing. All that back and forth felt more convoluted than they really needed to. It should have been a straightforward action flick, but just trying to humanize everything felt draggy and unnecessary.
