Honey Boy was such a pleasant surprise. I wasn't sure how interesting Shia LaBeauf's life when he was young could be, and was I wrong.
The story of his relationship with his father is the main crux of the movie. It was dysfunctional, it was pitiful, and it was heartbreaking. And by the end of it, you genuinely felt for all the negative episodes LaBeouf has had in his life.
Acting wise, this whole cast was great. LaBeouf once again showed just what a powerhouse he was. Hedges continued to show he is one of the best young character actors today.
And I have not liked Noah Jupe's work so far, even in A Quiet Place or even less in Ford v Ferrarri. But he really came into his own in this one.
Also, ALma Har'el's direction, pacing and tone was fantastic and kept my attention throughout.
