[Review] Captain Fantastic (9/10)

Title - Captain Fantastic

Writer - Matt Ross
Director - Matt Ross
Release - 29 July 2016

This movie will make you think about what you would do in the scenarios presented. There will be nice conversational topics to be had because it really showed some of the issues with society today and how one would choose to shun away for the sake of their children.

Viggo Mortensen never fails to deliver a great performance. He has gotten physically fit again for this role, reminds me of Aragorn. But there was that one scene towards the end when he was on the bus alone, and you could see the weight of his story arc came down on him through his performance.

But also, I wished the movie had ended shortly after that, and skipped on ahead to the final breakfast table because what happened in between was too far fetched and unnecessary for the ending to work.

And I only realized now that George MacKay was in this, playing the eldest son struggling with his relationship with the rest of society. Here is another fine young actor, though here I thought his American accent was a bit off.

There was a great cast here, especially Frank Langella who was so strong in his quietness. And director Matt Ross did not seem to make a misstep throughout the movie. The pacing was great and kept you focused on the movie throughout.
