[Review] Harriet (8/10)

Title - Harriet
Studio - Focus Features
Starring - Cynthia Erivo, Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Janelle Monae
Writer - Gregory Allen Howard, Kasi Lemmons
Director - Kasi Lemmons
Release - 1 November 2019

At this point, if you want your movie to go all the way to the Best Picture category, you put Janelle Monae in it.

Harriet is a great movie with a very inspiring tale of one person's determination towards freedom. Cynthia Erivo was great here, and I have seen an inkling of that greatness in her since Bad Times At The El Royale. Her portrayal in Widows also was quite the scene stealer. Unfortunately, she's not at the level of "Oscar Winner" just yet since the winners are usually in another level.

But this movie was beautifully shot by John Toll, capturing every landscape and putting you right there in it. And Kasi Lemmons as a director should be one to watch out for.
