Surprisingly, Pete Davidson was pleasant to watch. Not that there was a lot of acting involved as he was playing himself mostly. But still, I found this whole movie quite captivating.
And as per usual, Judd Apatow always try to inject heart into his stories; and this one actually had plenty of moving messages. Hence, giving the movie another extra layer of something that tugged at the heartstrings, even if it was just a little.
No doubt, the humour was great, coming from someone seasoned like Marisa Tomei, or comedian-cum-drama actor Bill Burr. And he was the other factor that made this movie so enjoyable. You may or may not like him as a stand-up; but in his dramatic turn here, again I was pleasantly surprised.
The ending happened a little too easy, with Davidson and Pamela Adlon. I would have liked to see him worked a little harder, but then again, the movie was already too long. I felt the length, and yet, I didn't mind it.
