[Review] Pieces Of A Woman (9/10)

Title - Pieces Of A Woman
Studio - Netflix, BRON Releasing
Starring - Vanessa Kirby, Shia LeBeouf, Ellen Burstyn, Sarah Snook, Eliza Schlersinger, Molly Parker
Writer - Kata Weber
Director - Kornel Mundruczo
Release - 7 January 2020

Seldom do we get a drama that has such intense scenes. The first 30 minutes was like a mini movie, with a climactic end to that segment before the title card actually came out. It was a brilliant directing with minimal edits.

And the rest of the movie that followed had equally great directing, great acting, and great impact. Vanessa Kirby walked around with that look of loss and lost in her eyes, which constantly seemed like they were cried out.

And Shia LeBeouf proved once again why he is such a great actor of his generation outside of his personal issues. Add in Ellen Burstyn, who shared the most intense scene with Kirby that will just make the hair on your arms stand on their ends. Both of their performances just suck you in even watching on your small TV screen.

And I really liked how Kornel Mundruczo used Eliza Schlersinger just for one line with perfect timing, brilliant direction. We didn't even get to see Schlersinger's face in that scene, nor had she had much screentime, but this was such a great project to be a part of.

This could very well be Kirby's Oscar win for Best Actress. This movie feels like this year's The Marriage Story.
