Encanto's plot has always looked interesting and beautiful in the trailers. And it was successful in delivering what it represented. But as a Disney animated movie, I thought the singing was quite weak, particularly from Stephanie Beatriz.

Everyone sounded as if their voice could not cut through the music. They sounded like Aladdin trying to sing above the music in the live action adaptation, and no one sounded like Jasmine where her vocals sounded effortless.

The animation was, as usual, really beautiful. The colours around the town was vibrant and the main characters had great characteristics. It was the story where it let me down a little.

The first two acts of creating a path for the audience to follow was clear and straightforward enough. But then when we got to the end of the second act and into the third, I wished there were things that would be made clearer, like why our protagonist here was never given a magic power. Does this mean the magic candle knew of her fate so many years ago?

But still, the story as a whole came together very nicely in the end as it was able to move me to tear up. The life lesson as with most Disney animated movie was as always a nice reminder to us all to be better. Unfortunately, the quality of singing just wasn't the usual Disney quality.
