Say what you will about Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, at least that version of Eddie Brock was accurate. He's not a good guy, not a superhero; but a super villain that grew a conscious later on in the comic book. Yes, yes, this isn't the comic book version. But the core characteristics of Eddie Brock should still be kept.

The above issue already existed in the first Venom movie; but even as I move on from that, this sequel still suffered the same story issues as the first. And that is, a lot of continuity problems and plot points being skipped just to move the story along.

And I have a feeling this is the Sony's fault because the movie needed another 10 to 15 minutes to properly build on the relationship and dialogue between Eddie and Woody Harrelson's character. There was one key line where Harrelson said he just wanted friendship. But throughout their multiple exchanges, that wasn't what was implied.

Then there was the relationship between Naomie Harris' character and Carnage. That randomly skipped a few steps as we went through the third act and we never got to see their relationship devolve. And this is the same for Carnage and Harrelson as we never got to see how they were not a "good fit".

This story could have been so much more if the studio had had the courage to build on the darker psychological side between Hardy and Harrelson. Instead of just making this another fluff of the comic book genre.
