[Review] Old Henry (8.5/10)

Title - Old Henry
Production - Hideout Pictures, Shout! Studios
Starring - Tim Blake Nelson, Gavin Lewis, Stephen Dorff, Scott Haze, Trace Adkins
Writer - Potsy Ponciroli
Director - Potsy Ponciroli
Release - 1 October 2021

Slow burn westerns are great when they come in the form of Old Henry. A tiny production, driven by a strong narrative and a wonderful and rare performance by Tim Blake Nelson.

The slow pacing offset by the grit and the beautiful location with a simple storyline. But the peeling of the layers were done in its deliberate dialogue that kept me hooked. Even when there was no dialogue, like in the beginning when Nelson's character found Scott Haze's character, it was just beautiful in its simplicity.

I haven't seen Stephen Dorff in years but he still got it. His delivery and performance gave such an opposite to Nelson's demure and quietness. But both equally towering characters in their own right.
