[Review] Spencer (7/10)

Title - Spencer
Production - Shoebox Films, FilmNation Entertainment
Starring - Kristen Stewart, Timothy Spall, Jack Farthing, Sean Harris, Sally Hawkins
Writer - Steven Knight
Director - Pablo Larrain
Release - 5 November 2021

I didn't think Kristen Stewart had it in her. But Pablo Larrain had a vision that apparently surprised even Stewart herself. And here she is, maybe her first ever Oscar nomination is on the way.

The movie, in its effort to tell this side of Diana, showed three different relationships in that period of her life. Timothy Spall played a sort of antagonist, Sean Harris the closest thing to someone treating her like a human being, and Sally Hawkins the closest thing Diana had as a friend.

And not much was shown with Jack Farthing's Prince Charles was probably to show how bad her relationship was by that time with her husband.

With the story taking place, I believe, over a matter of days or just a week; it was really clear to see what she was going through and how her demons were torturing her. And I think that was the aim of the movie, after all - to capture the tragedy of Diana by showing a small snippet of her life.
