This movie wasn't made for me. Not a subject matter that would interest me in any way.
But it was shot very beautifully - in black and white - so lighting and shadows played important parts within the great cinematography by Robbie Ryan.
Joaquin Phoenix gave another Oscar-worthy performance here, though not good enough to earn him a spot in the upcoming Academy Awards. But the standout certainly was young Woody Norman who, with the help of director Mike Mills, looked very comfortable and natural in front of the camera.
Maybe if you have children, this would be more interesting to watch. Just not for me.
