This was a rare treat, Michael Bay has not been this good in a while. There were still some cheesy shots but there were also some great use of slow-motion in the right context.

This movie was filled with action that never really let up. A car chase from the second act onwards that was a reminiscence of Speed. But add in the smooth-talking of Jake Gyllenhaal's character, who was supposed to be the villain but with so much charisma that you couldn't help but root for him.

Also, add in Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who played off Gyllenhaal with just as much charisma; and this duo captivated the screen.

There were also elements of The Fugitive, where Garret Dillahunt had similar flair to Tommy Lee Jones and was a great supporting cast. Eiza Gonzalez was also a very competent addition.

Part of what made this so enjoyable was the dialogue, especially the lines that came from Gyllenhaal's character. Typical as it was, but without it, he wouldn't have been that likeable. And he needed to be for the movie to work.
