A very paint-by-the-numbers plot but featuring the acting talents of Michael Cain and Aubrey Plaza. And the bonus here was that this was the first time seeing Plaza taking a leading, purely dramatic role and it was her best work I've seen.
The writing left me a little perplexed. In one scene Ellen Wong was pitching to Aubrey Plaza about Michael Caine, and immediately when Plaza was onboard, Wong kept dissuading her.
But there were enough interesting plot points to keep the audience's attention throughout, with great performances from the two leads.
Scott Speedman's character looked a little caricature, but when Cary Elwes popped up with a completely caricature character, that was fun.
