When Disney announced that Luca was going to be on streaming, I immediately made an assumption that this movie was smaller in scope and story. And when I saw it, the first 15 minutes I thought I assumed right.
But what I mistakenly did not anticipate was, Pixar will always produce Pixar quality storytelling. What the studio will always bring is the humour and warmth and heart. And the relationships between the characters once again were genuine and heartfelt and real.
And I really enjoyed Saverio Raimondo's antagonist, because I know characters like this in real life. And so it's very relatable and familiar, and also very funny to see.
But being smaller in scope, the story did not delve into the mystery of this half-fish, half-human species. Still, with how the movie played out, it didn't matter... that much.
