While credit go to the directing duo of Andrew and Jon Erwin for steering this away from the typical sports movie and making it more of a relationship drama; unfortunately, the drama part was sluggish and slowed the movie down very considerably. It was the sports part that I wanted and where the movie lacked sorely.
I was excited for this cast. Anna Paquin has not been seen in a long time, Dennis Quaid back in a sports movie, and Zachary Levi back to working with Adam Baldwin since their hit TV series "Chuck".
But Paquin was lackluster, Quaid had very little to do, and Levi and Baldwin barely shared any chemistry between their scenes. On top of that, Bruce McGill played another typical antagonist for a sports movie.
