Austin Butler did fantastic work portraying the most iconic singer America has given the world, aside from Michael Jackson.
And part of that brilliance was Baz Luhrmann's choice of shots, and choice of angles to catch those tight shots of Butler as he mesmerized the camera.
Also, what a great choice by Luhrmann to tell the story from the perspective of Tom Hanks' perspective. Because, in this way, it was clear that this was a very skewed story that may not be close to the truth of Elvis Presley.
However, the movie was way too long and dragged on in the third act. There was a point that the movie should have wrapped up, but it went on for another half hour or so. And Hanks, while great as always, wasn't as effective as I would have liked.
And while I appreciated the focus on Elvis and Colonel Tom Parker, there was quite a void between Elvis and his relationship with his then wife played by Olivia DeJonge - even with such a long running time for the movie.
