I'm fully glad I watched Jurassic World: Dominion first, then Top Gun: Maverick; because it would have been tragic if it was the other way around.
Maverick showed you how to bring back an old property and update it the right way while giving fan service. Dominion is showing how not to do it.
First, the original cast did not look necessary addition to the story. By having them in here, the whole story became too convoluted and too much back-and-forth jumping between characters. I don't even think Sam Neill really wanted to be in this one. Jeff Goldblum always look like he's enjoying himself, while Dern is always a pro at selling it.
I didn't really care for any of these characters. Isabella Sermon's thick British accent felt very out of place, making her character stood out in the most negative way. The raptor Blue was at least one I would anchor myself to in the previous movies; but here, the story didn't make me care.
There was only one bright spot, and that was when Bryce Dallas Howard's character was on her own and escaped a dinosaur by crawling into a small pool of water. That was the only scene that made me tense up.
Other than that, this was a complete waste of time. The dinosaurs were no longer a novelty in this movie, and that was a mistake. The original 90's movies never made them a "commonplace".
