The Northman was another cinematic achievement from Robert Eggers. Every shot was paired with amazing cinematography from Jarin Blaschke, and came with mood-setting score.

Alexander Skarsgard sometimes could be hit or miss, but this time he was full-on ferocious and I can't decide whether he was well-suited for this role or the role was well-suited for him. Definitely his best movie-role yet.

Anya Taylor-Joy had a small role in this one but it was great to have her presence, especially when her and Robert Eggers enjoyed their collaboration since The Witch (and Eggers didn't have a suitable role for her in The Lighthouse).

Nicole Kidman was able to make me uncomfortable in the few scenes that she had with Skarsgard, and I thought the way Eggers directed those were masterful.

There were also a few long sequences that just boggled the mind if there wasn't any cuts in between, especially a long action-packed one that seemed like a nightmare to choreograph.

This movie should have done way better than it did in the cinemas.
