There was a lot of positive early buzz after the movie premiere its first 15 minutes or so at the America's Cinemacon but didn't quite live up to the hype. (I personally didn't find the first 15 minutes to be that brilliant.)

This was a true sci-fi effort from Pixar which I did not mind. Part of the confusion in the American market was whether or not this was connected to the Toy Story franchise. Probably a lot of different expectations among moviegoers that spelled its downfall.

But I quite enjoyed it for the adventure that it represented. The twist in the middle, the humour from the mechanical cat, the time-travelling aspect of the plot; all these made for a nice storytelling for its genre that was filled with enough entertainment value to be worthwhile.
