I would never have guessed that this would turn out to be one of the best movies of the year. This would be the third movie this year to come out as a sequel to an IP that is over a decade old - First one, of course, being Top Gun; and Avatar: The Way Of Water just came out the same week as The Last Wish.

I was smiling right from the start and the movie never failed to entertain me in every frame. The graphics were upgraded by more than a few levels from the first movie, and there were some very nice mixture of different types of animation (almost 2D like but I can't be sure).

Antonio Banderas was born to voice this character. Even after all these years, it was probably like riding a bike. I would have to say Salma Hayek Pinault sounded aged from when she last played Kitty Softpaws, but the characterization was still there.

The story here was brilliant, dealing with mortality and fear. I've always loved the line, "Fear me... if you dare", and the last time it was used here once again brought me joy.

The way the movie set up Puss's trauma in the first act was great. And we saw that fear carried throughout. By the third act, there was a lot of heart that almost brought tears to my eyes.

The addition of Golidlocks and the three bears was an inspired decision by the writing team. They added so much layer to an already beautifully layered storyline. And all the voice acting were brilliant.

And there was such a tease right at the end that I would definitely love to see a continuation to that!
