In a world that is post- Avatar: The Way Of Water, anything that is filmed in front of green screens and LED walls no longer feel immersive for audiences. Such was the disadvantage of Quantumania.
This movie felt a little similar to Thor: Ragnarok in terms of it's scale in the third act. Probably because everything was filmed not on location, obviously, so there's this fakeness to the whole thing. Plus a whole horde of creatures and humanoids, making the similarities stood out.
As a story, though, it's definitely pointing to something greater so it's like a precursor to the overall MCU. But it did make me miss the personal touch of the first two movies.
Sarah Halley Finn has never had a wrong step in her casting, but even after the movie, I'm still unsure of Kathryn Newton in this role. At least she was adequate.
I thought Michelle Pfeiffer stood out, gave some convincing performances here alongside Jonathan Majors - who looked really good as this Kang.
But the most magnetic of the cast was still Paul Rudd. You couldn't take your eyes off him even if you tried. The opening and closing sequence with him just walking and an internal monologue was, unfortunately, the best parts of the movie for me. M.O.D.O.K. had his moments as well.
