There was a section where the tone shifted and it shouldn't have. After Adam Driver and Ariana Greenblatt's characters started moving together, the directors wanted to go lighthearted and put in a few funny scenes that were supposed to be cute. I didn't think those worked at all and they should have stuck to being a serious tone throughout. There was even some cute background music that really took me out of the movie.
As usual, because CGI is expensive, so we didn't get a lot of dinosaurs. The first one in the swamp didn't even showed its head. The story itself was very simple. Giving Driver's character some serious background story was a nice touch but it really didn't help in the total enjoyment of the movie.
Was the climax good at least? Yes, I'll give it that. But this movie was made for cheap so don't expect anything to be drawn out.
That quicksand scene was very unnecessary and gimmicky.
