Honestly, I think I've seen a better performance by Bill Nighy; and this certainly didn't belong in this year's nomination when Hugh Jackman just gave his best dramatic turn in The Son.
This is not to say that this performance wasn't worth lauding because it was. How Nighy played it certainly brought more weight to the "frustration" of not living while still keeping his character quiet and soft spoken.
Living was a nice little film with the best parts arriving in the last act when Bill Nighy's character's colleagues were reminiscing. There's a sense of realism when in a situation such as this, and that's where the heartfelt moments for Nighy's character were.
However, there wasn't enough to make this a memorable movie; nor any of the supporting performances as well. It was just a competent movie that did everything well enough but nothing stood out.
