This movie came out when I still did not believe the hype of Zendaya. If I had watched this, I would have been blown away. This was a great performance from a younger Zendaya but the emotions she brought was never over the top and always just right.
The first act of the movie was the best. The two characters talked about issues in a relationship that were painfully real, and these issues usually have no resolve so those dialogue really reflect reality.
The second act had John David Washington going off with a long monologue-rant which I really didn't care for. But still, this movie probably had his best performance because I was never really impressed with him in his other movies.
And by the third act, there were dialogues that pulled me out or pulled me in. But Zendaya came in for one scene and acted the heck out of it, and that was pretty amazing.
