A cautionary tale, probably a lot of it has been happening in China.
As a sort of warning to the public at large, the second act of the movie was sort of devoted to that "PSA". It went on for too long and detracted from the main storyline, which was about the characters of Lay Zhang and Gina Jin. And honestly, that plot was way more interesting.
Sure, a few times it felt like those warnings were hitting us on the head; but it wasn't bad enough to really take me out of the movie. And I'm also impressed with these bunch of actors. Either they were edited well or they really aren't just pretty faces that looked great onscreen. They really delivered their scenes.
Again, as I continue to venture into China produced films, I'm beginning to have a lot of confidence in them. These last few movies have been solid in story, direction and performances. I should hunt down more of the recent blockbusters.
