This was one of the best political thrillers I've seen since Bridge Of Spies.
It didn't start off that way. The first act left me wondering just because it's a Netflix distributed movie, did it have to be crawling at such a slow pace? Just because the viewers were sitting at home with the freedom of movement, did the movie needed to take its sweet time before getting to the point?
But once it did get to the point and established where the story was going, things started to get better and better. Both leads in George McKay and Jannis Niewohner committed their performances to great portrayals, and McKay once again (in a war movie), should not be overlooked in the awards season. (Unfortunately this movie came out a year ago and didn't create enough publicity for itself.)
The best scene was perhaps the two leads coming together again and without uttering a word, created a tension that coupled with Isobel Waller-Bridge's music - gave me chills.
Jeremy Irons has not been this good for a long time. He really gave some effort into the role and, though not his best, but should be a memorable one for me.
The best part about the whole movie was I never knew how it was going to end. And part of the fun was trying to think ahead of all possibilities because I, while watching the story unfolded to its climax, was a nervous wreck.
