I was just not prepared to receive a gut punch, one after another. That incredible bad luck chasing after the "world championship belt" and yet the father, played by Holt McCallany, was relentless with blinders on.

One of McCallany's best roles that I have ever seen him in, and he's had a prolific career, too. That shadow he cast on his boys were felt right from the beginning and in every thing, and that came across so clearly through the screen.

Zac Efron's physique was just incredible. I cannot imagine the amount of work he put in to look like a genuine wrestler on top of his game. This was more than a "superhero body".

Also, this was such a great role for him after a string of inconsequential, throwaway flicks. I would have to look at that Oscars' Best Actor list again to see if I would replace anyone with him.

I believe this movie has been very much overlooked by the Academy. It definitely deserved to be in the Best Movie list. Everyone in it were also great, from the other brothers - Jeremy Allen White and Harris Dickinson, to the ladies Lily James and Maura Tierney.

Dickinson continues to impress. I couldn't even recognize him at first, and didn't thought much about him as an actor but as the movie progressed, I was made aware of his presence every time he was onscreen.

I thought I was coming in to a sports movie, I wasn't expected to feel this much pain - especially for Efron's character.
