This movie was surprisingly dark and gripping. Right from the start, with the twist that happened, got me hooked immediately and I thought there was a lot more depth to this story than met the eyes.
Nimona herself was quite the character, with a lot of wisdom and also pain at her young age (well, we never knew exactly how old she was, did we?).
Also this movie wanted to be a champion for the LGBTQ+ community, but there were a few beats that were just too on the nose; especially what Nimona said about just letting her community kill her because they were always pointing their swords at her being different.
But, some of the other beats that were more subtle with the subject matter of inclusivity were done very tactful and more enjoyable.
The story left a bit more to be desired when it came to tying the beats together with a more detailed storytelling. At the moment, it was a bit too loose for my liking; even with a very strong premise.
