Visually it had very different sensibility of the genre because usually these fantasy movies has a young cast, whereas here, everyone was probably above 50 years of age. It did have a grounded feel to it without the usual young and beautiful people in it.
However, the story itself felt disjointed. Maybe because it was in a different language and I missed a few dialogue, but some plot point or character development seemed to have jumped or I just didn't catch the meaning.
Especially with Paula Lunchsinger's character, how and why did she turn from someone who was sent to kill the vampire but instead did a complete 180.
And also, a week after watching the movie, I have no idea how it ended now. It was quite forgettable. The only thing memorable were the look and feel of the black and white, the flying scenes were great, and a refreshing cast.
