La La Land remains my favourite Emma Stone performance, but this one is also right up there as one of her best. She may very well win her first Oscar with this one, too.
But not only her, this movie also boasted a Mark Ruffalo best; as well as another memorable one for Willem Dafoe.
Unfortunately, the movie - though properly paced - had its slower parts that couldn't contain my attention, even with beautiful cinematography; but very likely with a green screen backdrop.
And this movie was carried by Stone because she had to portray the different and growing mentality of her character, learning the hard truths of the world and how things worked and functioned; but also stating plain facts that would make the world better and that reflected on how our real world needed fixing.
This was a very Yorgos Lanthimos movie but with more humour, and probably the easiest to watch and follow. It's definitely his best but it don't think it should be a Best Movie contender just solely on the merits of its brilliant cast; or at least that would be how I view it.
