This was surprisingly good. The trailer showed it like a horror, but it really was a crime thriller more than anything. The supernatural part only came much later. I could see why the marketing decided to go the horror route, but it must have thrown every one off.
Maika Monroe played this really well. Also the director Osgood Perkins directed her really well. Nicolas Cage was once again an unforgettable presence, even when he appeared very minimally.
Blair Underwood also had a nice role, I've never seen him in this light before; and kudos again to Perkins for his performance.
This was a nice, slow burn.
