One of the warmest thing about this sequel coming back after such a long hiatus was seeing all the major players from the first movie back in play. It made me smile to see Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, as well as Paul Reiser coming back.
Not only that, there was a great addition with Joseph Gordon Levitt as Axel Foley's new partner. Their onscreen chemistry and comedic timings were some of the highlights of the movie.
Kevin Bacon played a good antagonist, though I didn't care much for Taylour Paige's role as Foley's daugther as I am not a fan of her acting. And I did not believe the chemistry she needed to have with Gordon-Levitt.
This sequel really brought the franchise back into quality action flick because the previous sequels were taking a step down with each one. But this updated and rejuvenated installment with a fresh director Mark Molloy (who's probably needing to prove himself) has breathe new life and freshness into the franchise.
Also, another thing that made me smile immediately was when the theme song first played. Those few bars are such an iconic melody.
