This is not the popular opinion, I know, but it has to be said. If you cut down all the Deadpool Corp. stuff, as well as Dogpool, we'll have a much tighter, better movie. The Deadpool Corp. did nothing for the movie except for a flashy, late, action sequence. But, if we substituted that with a final, equally flashy, showdown between the duo and Cassandra Nova; much better.
We've already had a very bloated middle with Blade, Elektra and Gambit; cut them out and we may have an even better story here.
But there's no denying, the entertainment value of this third Deadpool outing was through the roof. Bringing back Chris Evans was genius. And, as much as I thought Gambit was a distraction, Channing Tatum has always been fantastic when used succinctly. The man knows how to pop. That Cajun accent was gold.
And we also got two incredible fight sequences between the two titular characters. Both equally strong, with the second one very creatively inside the advertising car.
But I have to take a paragraph here and praise the commitment of Hugh Jackman to his character and his acting. No one knows the MCU's Wolverine better and he brought the past 20 years of Wolverine with him into this one. And his level of acting was worthy of an Academy Award nomination.
This team of Ryan Reynolds, Jackman and Shawn Levy has brought the MCU back; but more importantly, they knew how to entertain. I hope this isn't the last we see of this trio.
