This was a strong James McAvoy performance, but I'm not sure if it's strong enough for an Academy nomination. But the way he played this character, with that physique, he was very intimidating.
Mackenzie Davis also gave a great performance here opposite McAvoy, and playing the stronger partner off Scoot McNairy's weaker husband.
I didn't care much for the soft toy that, if it was that important to Alix West Lefler's character, then why was she always forgetting it? That made no sense.
But other than that, McAvoy made this movie worked from beginning to end.
