This was a surprise treat! I could not have imagined just how good this could be and I was blown away.

Not only was the artwork just the most beautiful - the colours and the shading and the light and shadow work were brilliant. But also, the way the animals were depicted, their movements and body language were able to convey their emotions and expressions that we the audience could understand.

And if you are not a cat person, by the middle of this movie you would want to pick this little black cat up and hug him/her and tell him/her that everything was going to be ok.

I am an introverted person and likes my personal space, so I identified with the cat a lot. The other animals all reflected the different kinds of human personalities with the characteristics that they showed.

That ending though... SPOILER ALERT... first we saw that another similar flood was very likely coming this way. Then we saw the whale laying, dying because of the drop in water level. Then we saw the 4 friends together staring into the puddle, having a moment, as if that's the last time they were going to be together.

Then credits rolled. Then we saw a whale, presumably the same whale dying earlier, but now swimming away in the ocean. So does that mean the flood came back and only the whale survived?
