I always thought Jesse Eisenberg got a lot of unfair hate for his portrayal of Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder's DC movies, so I'm glad that his directorial debut has proven that he has real talent - not just acting but directing and even writing.

I thought this movie was a gem as a road trip type of movie. And from its trailer, I thought it was going to be like a typical road trip with two clashing personalities. But there was more substance and not just a comedy.

As the title alluded, there was real pain - pain that we as people could relate to. The movie felt very real, with real people facing real problems. And Eisenberg very cleverly peeled back the layers to reveal the hurt.

I actually thought there wasn't enough moments in the story for Eisenberg to shine as an actor. Even as the lead, I felt like he wrote more for Kieran Culkin's character and more for him to shine.

Throughout the movie, though, I felt Culkin's acting or mannerisms was way too similar to his role in Succession; plus it felt like that's who he is in real life.

But he proved me wrong later in the final shot and, like Aftersun, that last shot just kicked me in the gut. And it was all on his facial expression.

Also, it's good to see Jennifer Grey again after so long.
