Ke Huy Quan can do no wrong? Wrong. In this movie, he's shown that he's not fallible as I once thought. While in present time I didn't mind his acting that much, the way he was in flashbacks look totally ridiculous, with that mustache and the bright dark blue jacket.

There seemed to be a bit of a disconnect when it came to connecting his past self with his present self. They seemed like two complete different persons even when the gap was just a couple of years, I think.

This dialogue clearly wasn't written by a Chinese family. I couldn't tell that Daniel Wu and Quan were playing brothers, and Wu playing the younger one at that. It's hard for me to believe that's how Chinese brothers talk. Playing the right hand man of a younger brother is one thing, but Quan felt like he was a lap dog in this context of siblings.

Unless you tell me, the back story was that Wu's character has already made it and then Quan's character, who was estranged from the family, came back one day and had to work his way up and endured his younger brother's bullying. But it didn't seem like the case here.

Ergo, Quan was forced into this role that clearly wasn't written specifically for him.

Saving grace? The action sequences once again was amazing and this clearly had the David Leitch stamp on it. But very little else worked. Not to mention that lack of chemistry between him and Ariana DeBose, who also somehow keeps ending up in similar roles after her Oscar nomination.
