I am really happy with how this movie turned out. Jake Schreier was the right choice, Joanna Calo was the right choice. The duo from the series "Beef" brought their characterizations and psychological issues into a Marvel universe and the payoff made me really happy.
There were powerful scenes on issues about depression with Florence Pugh's Yelena, talking to David Harbour, and another with Lewis Pullman. And the dialogue wasn't simple, it went deep and effective. And anyone with experience of depression or even adjacently would be able to understand the implications. And Pugh performance was central to it all.
I wasn't happy with Pugh as a Widow, introduced back in Black Widow; because during the training montage with a room full of Widows, physically Pugh was the odd one out. Everyone else had the physique of a runway supermodel. They should have had a variety.
But after watching Black Widow again a second time, that movie held up better than I thought it would. And Pugh was really a brilliant choice because she is one fine actress.
Also, this movie made me like Wyatt Russell's character even more. His character was supposed to be annoying but he made it relatable and even likeable.
But, how did Olga Kurylenko get such a big credit for less than a second of her appearance? The inner workings of Hollywood.
