As someone who's not an F1 fan, I was in it for the movie. But this wasn't a good movie.
To me, it just looked like a USD200 million advertisement for the sport itself. Brad Pitt didn't even look like he put in a lot of effort in terms of acting because there just wasn't that much for him to do. Kerry Condon standing beside him looked like she put in a lot more just to portray her affections for him.
Javier Bardem and Damson Idris also were very capable in their scenes. But ultimately, the story was just thinly written to cater for the on-track action and those were the only great things about the movie. Hence, an advertisement for the sport.
