Step Up 2: The Streets (6/10)
[caption id="attachment_1739" align="alignleft" width="94" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]So a lot of the scenes had no continuity and a lot of them didn't make sense. I am not going to even start with examples as they would go on and on.But this is a dance movie. It entertains through the dances, not the story. The story was there just to facilitate and took a back seat while the spotlight shone on the dances.Even the acting was secondary. The cast needed to dance more than they could act. And they did.I recently saw director John M. Chu on TED introducing the evolution of dance that is the LXD. He said the heroes of dance are different from those superheroes in the movies because there are no special effects here. The dances can really do what they did in the movies without special effects. This is so true. And dancers are finally getting their dues as they rise up into the forefront.Whoever the choreographers are for the movie, the credit really should go to them. The final dance off in the rain was quite good and worth some repeats.
