With a better story, scarier zombies and better action sequences to wow the audience. That's what I would do anyway. But that's not really the case here for Afterlife. Paul WS Anderson is finally back at the helm since the first Resident Evil movie, but couldn't add anything new to it.The story was never a strong point for this franchise but in earlier instalments, at least the extravagant action sequences were entertaining. Here however, like Extinction, it has become mild. The only thing that really worked for the movie was in the shower scene where Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter were battling the gigantic zombie that has came out of nowhere. Of course slow motion and the raining water had to be included. I'll admit this was entertaining so I've given one whole point for it.Speaking of which, a lot of slow motion had been used but some were just over the top and completely unnecessary. They didn't add any value nor any more suspense to the scenes, instead they sometimes were distracting too.The addition of Wentworth Miller was interestingly ironic - the first time we saw him was him being locked up in something like a jail cell and he was looking for a way out. That whole scene was just screaming Prison Break to me.But I don't know why Anderson would kill off Kacey Barnfield so early in the game. She was the first one to go down even. As an eye candy, she should have lasted longer. But I hated how the first time we saw Ali Larter, she was all unkempt looking and fainted. Then when she awoke, poof, makeup. This was almost on par with Extinction which I thought was the weakest, but maybe this was slightly better. Would watching it in 3D make any difference though?

  1. Haha! I actually enjoyed Extinction! Oh my! What say Afterlife! I heard it was really good in 3D, so I believe it would make a difference in terms of entertainment.

  2. I haven't seen a justifiable 3D movie, so at some point I hope I can catch Avatar as everyone said it's the best. The last one I saw was Alice In Wonderland and didn't like it as much as the 2D version.
