Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (6/10)
Writing from a non-fan point of view. The one thing that has caused an average rating from me was because there were a lot of things I didn't understand.[caption id="attachment_1959" align="alignleft" width="214" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]Sometimes I wished this long series has a "previously on Harry Potter" segment just so we can have a recap. Right from the beginning, I was lost.Who was that lady who was killed in the meeting of the evil-doers and then swallowed by a python? And that's just one of the many, many questions I have. Just ten minutes in and I was already thinking that I should have rewatched the previous one first before coming into this one.But that scene with the snake immediately set the tone for the movie. It was dark and twisted, and I thought some scenes were really scary and definitely not for the younger teenagers. Clearly, this series has come a long way. And I thought it was very clever of J.K. Rowling to have the books grow with her young readers. The acting this time clearly has improved among the main cast, most notably Daniel Radcliffe. However, I think one thing is still very clear. None of the three leads are capable of starring in their own movies yet. I think more than half of this movie was just focusing on the three. And that got boring very quickly. Understandably it was needed, but none of them managed to keep me interested. I was even squirming a little when it was just Harry and Hermoine alone, dancing. I was dreading that scene would lead to something more. The rest of the cast like Helena Bonham-Carter still didn't get enough screen time to make an impact. And that elf, Dobby, seemed to appear only for the sake of the convenience of the story.Perhaps this last chapter needed three parts instead of just two. But same goes to all the previous instalments then.

That's what I don't like about the HP movies. They're confusing and NEVER do justice to the books.
