TRON: Legacy 3D (3/10)

I'm confused. The technology used to make Jeff Bridges look younger was the same one used in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. Then why did Bridges mouth looked so very fake while Benjamin Button was so brilliant?

It worked back in the 80's. I could see why. But while staying true to the kind of magic that worked for the geeks of the 80's apparently didn't work for those of the 21st century.

Nothing about the TRON world was exciting or interesting, or even visually impressive. And 3D? That's a laugh! Half the movie were in 2D, at least. The other half wasn't worth all that 3D money.

What I couldn't get over was the fact that the father and son, both were just chips in a computer, were sitting at a table eating what looked like long bean and drinking some blue liquid. How ridiculous was that?

And why did those "computer chips" (that's what I call them for lack of a better correct computer term) want to take over the world? What would they become if they used the portal to get out? I know we saw Olivia Wilde's character looked like human in the end but was she really human?

I just found it absurd that those things posed such a threat when Jeff Bridges and Garrett Hedlund already said they could be destroyed with a single button from the outside.

Those things wouldn't survive in the outside world. Pour water on them and they'll short circuit. Where's the threat?

And sure, we saw all those "chips" getting destroyed with a single stroke from their opponent but Olivia Wilde was the only one who survived even when she was the only one struck while pinned down. Sure.

The entire movie just made no sense. If the disk was the most important thing one could ever possess, why have it hang on your back?

Not a legacy worthy of Bridges to continue, that's for sure. And the talented Michael Sheen was wasted on this.

  1. hey Del, thought i ll share my views. as you know, occasionally i ll drop my two cents worth..lolwhat bothered me the most bout the movie was the script. i absolutely have no idea why hollywood action movies have such cheesy scripts. this is not the first one in recent months. the story like u said, didnt make much sense. but i thought visually, it was impressive enough. the bike thingy was kinda cool..lolthe fact that Olivia wilde was the only one survived is purely for fandom purposes in my opinion. they need to slot in a happy ending somewhere after the very predictable death of the dad. and i too, have a problem with the disk hanging at the back thing and yes, where did the long bean come from?!also, isnt it obvious that Clu was gonna cheat Zuse after he gets the disk? why cant they complicate matters a bit and perhaps give Clu a fake one, while the real one is being transported elsewhere by the hot blonde chick, who will be killed at that job... or something..more exciting...lolbest thing bout the movie? Michael Sheen. though i wouldn't fail it though..it was sort of entertaining in a something-to-pass-your-time kinda way, perhaps a 5/10

  2. Agreed, wholeheartedly. Though I'd still fail it. I was really disappointed, especially with it being in 3D.
