Fast Five (5/10)

There were moments of entertainment and then there were moments of pure boredom. Guess which was more?

The thing with these kinds of franchise is, after so many instalments, the creators want to do something different - something more. But that something more may not translate into entertainment value. So by expanding the storyline and the cast, the drama created became something of an afterthought and didn't come out well through the silver screen. I almost fell asleep so many times.

Also, the main story was very flimsy and things happen one after another just because they had to happen. And beautiful cars keep appearing one after the other and nobody ever talked about where the characters led by Vin Diesel and Paul Walker got them from.

But there were also some bits that were fun, though these were mostly cheap thrills. Seeing Diesel throwing it down with Dwayne Johnson was one of them but there weren't anything classy about it, everything was just brute strength. Actually, that can sum up the whole movie: Everything was just brute strength - all explosions with flower petals with no romance.

And the final segment with the two cars pulling a giant metal safe into the streets, totally ridiculous and probably one of the silliest things I've ever seen onscreen.

Oh, and the final scene after the credits rolled, they have really ran out of stories! They really should have just stopped here.
