There were still a few good things about it. Gary Oldman for one, though not his best moments, but at least he brought some serious acting into the fold. And beneath all the ridiculous script, there was still a good story hidden somewhere in there that by the end of the movie, I could feel that this actually had potential.
I think one of the main issue this movie had was that the trailer had been marketed like Twilight. At first glance, when the poster was first released, the idea of a dark and twisted fairy tale looked absolutely enticing. But then the trailer went on to show two guys fighting for one girl, a la Twilight. Not to mention how the movie first started, with the camera panning across a forest - brought back a lot of the Twilight feel. Having Catherine Hardwicke helming the project may have looked like a good idea at first, being a dark Red Riding Hood and all; but then it became very much like a Twilight copycat. Worst was when this wasn't any better than Twilight. Billy Burke's presence didn't help at all. He was actually better in the Twilight series.
As a whole, this movie did not do the fairy tale and the name of Red Riding Hood any justice. This could have very well just been another werewolf movie. And if it had been made as just another werewolf movie, it might have been better.
